A Few Helpful Articles

Hello UGA!

The Placement Exchange has been posting some great stuff on their Facebook page, most of which would be useful regardless of whether you are attend TPE Onsite or not.  The first is a funny/nerdy guide to navigating and networking on LinkedIn, found below:

The second article provides advice and suggestions on how to answer one of the most common and difficult interview questions, “what is your greatest weakness?”

Consider Volunteering at TPE Onsite!

The Placement Exchange welcomes ANYONE to volunteer at TPE Onsite 2015, regardless of whether or not you are attending NASPA or TPE Onsite.

This is a great opportunity to give back to the student affairs field while interacting with colleagues from all around the United States and beyond. Whether you are a student affairs professional, a graduate student in a higher education program, or a graduating senior considering the student affairs field, TPE can use your assistance during the Onsite Conference.

TPE will be looking for volunteers from Tuesday (March 17) through Sunday (March 22). Follow the link to learn more and sign up!

The Dos and Don’ts of Interviewing

Hey UGA!

I’ve included another resource that was shared with me by another TPE Ambassador.  Though I’m sure many of these tips you are well aware of, I figured it would be helpful to include a new list in case there is anything you want to review.  As TPE comes closer, and you all start interviewing for jobs, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if there is anything I can do to help!

What to Pack!

Hello Job Searchers!

I know that some of these items may seem super obvious, but I found this packing list in a TPE Information packet that I thought might be helpful.  I’ve included a copy below, in case there is anything on the list that you may forget to pack for your job interviews or conferences!  I hope that all of your job searches are going well.  Let me know if there is anything I can do to help with your process, even if it is outside of TPE related things!

What Do You Know About Student Affairs?

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

Another TPE Ambassador had shared a ton of resources with me to help second year students in their job search and interview process.  One helpful chart that I have asks the question “what do I know about student affairs?” and allows you to rate how well you know a variety of topics.  Though this chart obviously does not cover all facets of student affairs, it can be a helpful reflection tool, so you know what your strengths and weaknesses are going in to an interview.  I have attached a copy of the chart below!
